A small, finely made antique Georgian solid 9k gold carved bloodstone bird seal pendant, dating to circa 1820. This beautiful George III solid 9k yellow gold intaglio seal pendant is quite the little jewel! Made in small form for wearing around the neck, the seal has been wonderfully made with a bezel set, bevel edged, shield-shape bloodstone plaque carved with a fabulous carved intaglio of a messenger pigeon flying over a grassy pasture, the graduating column form handle has wonderful floral engraved decorations as well as lovely light catching hammered details leading to a built in bail-fantastic! The pendant is unmarked and tests for 9k gold. The pendant measures approximately 23mm x 11mm. The bloodstone measures about 10.5mm x 9mm. The bail will hold a chain up to about 3mm wide. The pendant weighs approximately 1.6 grams. The pendant is in very good condition with all over wear including some tiny repairs to the edge of the bail seen under a loupe.
