Looks a like a layer of gold rolled around as you can see the seem on both sides, ornate chased engraved etched gold with ball end clip with hook Very interesting victorian piece of history. I wonder what the exact true function was for this item. I didnt want to test it because i would have to Scratch the surface and i didnt want to damage the piece. 1.25” long. 1.1 grams
