It is newly restrung on hand knotted 100% silk with its antique clasp that it’s had for the last century or so. They can be clipped off, or left on. The “lay” or drape of this properly old-style hand-knotted on heavy silk necklace gives it an unmistakeable presence of authentic antique coral.
The chain is made of double-strand brass bar links, with leaf/pod-shaped pieces along the chain. The necklace closes with a bar-and-loop clasp, with a coral glass bead at the end. It shows the face of Bacchus/Dionysus (the Roman and Greek god of wine), with curly hair and grape leaves — a classic design seen in antique and neoclassical jewelry.
