Antique Silver & 10KT Yellow Gold Overlay Mixed Metal Guatemala Quetzal Inscribed BROOCH A antique mixed metals brooch from Guatemala dating from the early 20th Century and likely created as a keepsake remembrance of time, place, or people in Guatemala. This brooch is fashioned in the shape of a map of Guatemala in silver with a beautiful textured hand fashioned quetzal bird (the national bird of Guatemala) made of 10 KT yellow gold overlaid in the lower right corner. The map of Guatemala has the word “Guatemala” stamped into the surface face of the brooch in an antique style of font. On the reverse the brooch is hand engraved in an antique cursive script “De Quincho de la familia Harrison”. There is a working pin back with a “c” clasp to hold the pin in place. There are no hallmarks for maker or metal content but items of this era made as keepsakes were made of coin silver or better and 10KT gold or better. Please see extensive photos.
