This is a vintage Mexican silver brooch with a hanging amethyst beaded pendant. The brooch was made in Taxco in the 1930s or early 40s. It is signed Taxco 980. 980 silver is 98 percent silver and 2 percent other metal. Mexican jewelry signed Taxco 980 silver is known to be made from 1930 and 40s, before 1948. It was made during the time of Spratling and Hector Aguilar. It does have a feeling of an Aguilar design. The brooch measures a tad less than 2 1//2″ wide x 1 3/4″ long and weighs 14.8 grams.
