This 2.5 inch long pin is 14 k gold. I had it appraised because I thought the stones were sapphires and I was going to have a jeweler take the stones out and use them to make a necklace. The appraiser informed me that the stones are not sapphires. They are red garnet on top of blue glass, which she said was a common technique in the late 1800's/early 1900's. I have no idea how old this pin actually is, it was found among my grandfather's belongings. The pin weighs 2.1 grams. There are some shallow marks on the back/bottom of the pin where the appraiser filed some off to test it. I am happy to answer any questions about this item if you want to message me. :)
